The Brazos Valley HOME Consortium provides funding for down payment assistance, home rehabilitation and affordable new home construction for low and moderate income citizens. The HOME Consortium invites the public to review their proposed 2010 Annual Plan and 5-Year Consolidation Plan for a 30-day period beginning 7/20/10. The Brazos County Commissioner's Court is currently preparing the budget for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. To be considered for funding this budget cycle, a request for funds along with a 2011 Proposed Agency Budget must be submitted. Please see Request for Funding for complete details.
FEMA has officially revised the current Flood Insurance Rate Maps to show changes to floodplains, floodways, and flood elevation in Brazos County. Building permits and floodplain information has some information. However, Brazos County has worked with the Cities of College Station and Bryan concerning the new maps; please see Bryan/College Station/Brazos County Flood Map Modernization for full details.

In 2007, the 80th Texas Legislature passed House Bill 1495, "The Landowner's Bill of Rights Statement." Effective Feb. 1, 2008, the legislation requires that governmental entities with the power of eminent domain provide a written statement to a landowner regarding the landowner's rights in the event of condemnation.
