Obtaining a Passport
The process can take up to 6 weeks before the passport is returned to you.
Please plan accordingly!
Application Process
To apply for a U.S. Passport, you MUST:
1. Present Proof of U.S. Citizenship
You may prove U.S. Citizenship with any one of the following:
- Previous U.S. Passport - mutilated, altered, or damaged passports are not acceptable as evidence of U.S. citizenship.
- Certified birth certificate issued by the city, county or state (NO HOSPITAL BIRTH CERTIFICATES WITH FOOTPRINT)
- Naturalization certificate
2. Present Proof of Identity
You may prove your identity with any one of these, if you are recognizable:
- Previous U.S. passport - mutilated, altered, or damaged passports are not acceptable as proof of identity.
- Naturalization Certificate
- Current, valid Driver's license
- Government ID: city, state or federal
- Military ID: military and dependents
- For Minors:
- Children age 16 and under, BOTH parents must be present. If one parent cannot be present they must fill out a DS-3053 and it has to be NOTARIZED. Your child MUST appear in person.
- If your child age 16-17 does not have identification of his/her own, you need to accompany your child, present identification, and co-sign the application.
3. Pay the Applicable Fee(s)
- Passport Application Fee:
- Age 16 and Over $110.00 for 6 weeks delivery
- Under Age 16 $80.00 for 6 weeks delivery
- Passport Card Fee:
- Age 16 and Over $30.00
- Under Age 16 $15.00
- If you already have a valid passport and would like to apply for a passport card, you can complete the DS-82 form and mail it yourself.
- Expedite Fee (optional):
- An additional $60.00 for Expedited Processing (for 2-3 weeks delivery)
- Ad additional$14.96 for Overnight Delivery Return
- Execution Fee: $25.00
- Passport Photo: $10.00
- We take passport photos here but you may bring your own photos (2 Identical 2 x 2 Photos on a white background; NO MALL PHOTOS)
- We cannot take photos of small children or infants.
Money orders, personal checks, or bank drafts are accepted. (NO CREDIT CARDS)
Pay the application processing fee to the “U.S. Department of State”.
Pay the execution fee and passport photo fee to the “Brazos County District Clerk”. (TWO SEPARATE PAYMENTS)

You may qualify to use this form only if:
- The issue date of your last passport was less than 15 years ago;
- You were 16 or older when it was issued;
- Your name is the same or you can submit name-change documentation (marriage certificate or court order);
- You can submit this passport; and
- It is undamaged.

If international departure in less than 2 weeks, or passport is needed for foreign visas, application at a Regional Passport Agency may be advised. Appointment required.
